Software Description :
Barbie's gone from fashion to hair and, for better or worse, fans will no doubt enjoycreating "dos" with this hair styling program. They first pick from Barbie and her threefriends. The characters represent different ethnic backgrounds but with some questionableaccuracy, for instance, the African American Barbie (Christie) has straight, fine hair. After picking their character, kids select from one of four "events" (work, wedding, dateor costume party). A screen then opens up with their character's head and a menu of hair, makeup and accessories. Here they can easily cut the doll's hair with straight or angledscissors. If children don't like the results, they simply grow the hair back again. Theycan also color or streak the hair, curl it and add hats, hair barrettes, head bands andmakeup. All of the hair and makeup tools are quite easy to operate but have limited use.For instance, kids can only apply lipstick to Barbie's lips (not her face or hair) andcan only put barrettes and other accessories in predetermined places. One little boy wasquite disappointed that you can't give Barbie a buzz cut. After kids finish the hair, makeupand accessories, they see a replay of their styling efforts, and they see the character in thecontext for which she was prepared (for instance, on her way to work). Children can also take asnapshot of Barbie and store it for a slide show or place it in a frame and print it. All inall, testers loved the program. |
